i first began my admiration for artist and her architect husband when in 2009 they opened their inspiring and very well-curated in san Francisco’s often foggy outer sunset district. i think their move to the neighborhood lured a lot of other amazing talented makers, cafes and shops to what once had been previously pretty sleepy area of the city — people just responded to their authenticity, creativity, and charm. since then, they’ve grown, moving to their beautiful and opening their second in 2012. the creative couple currently splits their time between San Francisco and Los Angeles, running their two stores, designing & building homes and making art. and now they’ve gifted us with their beautiful new book, .

the yearning for a life of pared-down purity has never been more sought-after, and and are very admirably at the forefront. in , these tastemakers and slow life livers make a graceful case for living better no matter your budget or abilities, guiding you to create a space this is simple and true. their time-tested methods create interiors that maximize openness, strip a building back to its bones, and amplify natural light, evoking unpretentious tranquility. The blueprint for their signature aesthetic is all in — the embrace of elemental materials, curation of handcrafted objects, and collection of furnishings from eras when craftsmanship was king — and they walk the walk and talk the talk, all very authentically.  beautifully features their greatest collaborations and will share with you breathtaking interiors, masterpieces of warm minimalism and is also a practical glimpse into the couple’s process and a guide to manifesting your own beautiful interiors. it’s another new on my bookshelf that i think you’ll really want to include on yours.

ampersand floral shop in san francisco's mission district. / sfgirlbybay

it’s been a busy week, getting back into work-mode after such an incredibly fun-filled weekend in new Orleans, but like most trips i go on, i was so inspired by my visit. i think the city’s romantic, authentic and old-world charm really rubbed off on me — thus this week’s rather eclectic and vintage-inspired friday finds. you know i love my vintage portrait paintings and some of these spaces making them shine. happy weekend one and all!

xo, victoria

  1. i found this peek at one of san francisco’s favorite florists from just so charming. their entire tiny shop (an old garage in an alley in the mission district) is just magical so if you’re ever in the neighborhood do stop in and the boys might just pour you a cup of tea.
  2. this quirky and quite beautiful from looks so special with a vintage portrait hanging over it. charming to the max!
  3. i love the idea of an (especially vintage) like this beautiful room photographed by . so unexpected and unusual, but just so perfect.
  4. one of my favorite designers shared a peek at her very own beautiful Art Deco apartment (more on that soon) and i love her bold color choices. green and pink pairing for the win.
  5. this makes my heart sing, too. i love the old patina of the paint. sometimes the vibe of vintage imperfection is just way better than brand new.
  6. this mural photographed so beautifully by looks so charming in this rustic dining space. murals seem to be making a return in a big way and i find myself tempted to locate a space for one in my own home.
  7. amazing art-filled home was recently featured in and i can’t get enough of his quirky collections. this pretty settee paired with that painting is just lovely and i love the ‘rough around the edges’ combination of it all.
  8. i love a that’s both whimsical and yet so exotic and stunning looking. featured in , it’s from a beautiful summer home in Galatina, italy photographed by .
