well guys, it’s my first friday finds of 2019 and it looks like i’m feeling rather green — but in the good way. one of my goals for the year is to literally be more green, and eat clean, so maybe i’ve just got it on the brain. i’ve been listening to a lot of podcasts while i work — i love goop, another new one i just discovered mentioned below, and dax shepard’s armchair expert is pretty entertaining, too. he’s a pretty deep fellow, which i’ll admit kinda surprised me. what podcasts are you listening to?

xo, victoria

  1. not one to usually be a fan of ceiling fans (no pun intended) but this one seems to anchor this beautiful room but then again everything about it is pretty stunning from the whitewashed fireplace to the furnishings and spectacular round rug. visit the design files for the full tour.
  2. this los angeles home located in frogtown had to be one of my favorites of last year, and i’m still kinda bumming out i didn’t buy it. designed by breland-harper it was up for sale but you should have seen how many people were at the open house. i’m still dreaming about it.
  3. this on being podcast with guest artist maira kalman on “Daily Things to Fall in Love With” was so uplifting (thanks for the tip, @lisacongdon). on being shared this photo of what had to maira said: “You asked what I might fall in love with after our conversation was over. I took off my headphones and walked out of the room and saw these green chairs, which I immediately fell in love with, photographed, and will certainly paint sometime soon. The eternal pleasure of chance encounters.” it’s changed the way i’ve been seeing things — do listen.
  4. i really dig this pairing of the black wall and green bedding, but as a lover of all things eero saarinen i fell for this Torsion side table with a similar vibe, but this time in black. lovely!
  5. this is actually a contemporary wallpaper by designers
Draga Obradovic + Aurel K. Basedow but it carries the patina-like look of a well-worn vintage tile wall which is why i love everything about it.
  6. i’m just obsessed with this painting, The Cliffs of Isle au Haut by Fairfield Porter, 1974 which reminds me of a vintage paint-by-numbers. thanks for the heads up about his work midland shop!
  7. speaking of well-worn walls, this kitchen is the real deal and i love that kind of ‘celebratory decay’ that comes with paint that peels ‘just enough’ to look really great!
  8. i could hang out here in this very charming room with a view all the darn day long. gimme a stack of good design magazines or great book and i’d be a very happy mid-century modern camper.

  1. Thank you so so much for Introducing me to the podcasts of Krista Tippett.. First of all, I love her voice…so soothing. And the podcast with Maira Kalyan is just wonderful. Really struck a cord with me. Thanks Victoria and Lisa. You’ve both enriched my life today.
